WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS?
Look at
the whole pattern.
Functional Patterns is a movement-training method centered on posture, gait, and coordinated movement.
It uses standing, walking, running, and throwing as its foundational movement patterns. Training connects strength and coordination to how your body moves, rather than treating each muscle as a separate task.
In your session, we start with your goals and current movement. The focus is learning, practicing, and refining the patterns that matter to you.
THE FOUNDATION OF THE METHOD
Four movements.
One connected body.
01
Standing
Start with your posture and how you support yourself upright.
02
Walking
Explore weight transfer and how your arms, trunk, and legs coordinate.
03
Running
Work toward more dynamic movement as your practice progresses.
04
Throwing
Connect rotation and force through the body as a whole
These patterns guide the approach. You do not need to run or throw during your first session
WHY I TRAIN THIS WAY
My own movement
changed my approach.
I came to Functional Patterns because I wanted to keep moving and keep doing the work I love.
After nearly ten years of CrossFit, I was dealing with limited movement, jaw tension, headaches, and shoulder discomfort. I was even considering stepping away from massage after 24 years.
Myofascial release and Functional Patterns became part of my own training. Over time, I reported that my jaw and shoulder pain resolved and my recurring headaches stopped. I was able to return to running and work more comfortably.
That experience shaped my interest in movement and the way I work with clients today.
This is my personal experience. It does not predict another person’s results.
